Secrets Of Keeping Copper Hair

This one is pretty easy but when someone sits in my chair & asks how to be a red head… I say maintenance. Red hair color is very hard to keep up with & isn’t for everybody. If you want to keep your reds looking vibrant then keep reading.

Here are a few of my personal favorites that help me achieve keeping my copper hair ACTUALLY copper!

  • Minimal heat

    • Try using heatless techniques/styles on your hair to limit the amount of curling or straightening you’re doing. I love braids & sock curls!

  • Limit hair washes

    • If you are someone who can really only go 1 day in between washes, being a red head may not be for you. I personally had to train my hair to be able to go 4 days in between washes. I learned that in order to keep my sanity dry shampoo, pony tails, braids & half up half done do’s are my best friend to get to that 4th day.

  • Keeping up with regrowth

    • As a red head, seeing my roots come in isn’t the worst thing but it can be the worst thing… maintaining your regrowth is important too. The contrast between your natural color & red can be drastic. You have to be willing to come in every 4-6 weeks.

  • Maintenance gloss

    • This also applies to that every 4-6 weeks. While you’re getting your roots taken care of ask your stylist about using a direct color line that’s ammonia free. This will fade in 8-10 washes but still give you the brightness you’re looking for.

  • Color depositing shampoo + conditioner

    • Last but not least this is your final step in being a red head. Considering using a color depositing shampoo & conditioner in your shower. Sorry but you can’t skip out on this one! If you used to be blonde you would know about keeping that extra bottle of purple shampoo in your shower? I know it’s a lot to keep in your shower but once a week you can bust these babies out to use. Davines Alchemic System is used to intensify & brighten color in between your washes & appointments.

Hopefully this helps you with your decision to go red/copper or helps you in your red/copper hair journey!
